A Legacy That Keeps On Giving

A local resident from Franklin, Ohio has begun his second year collecting toys throughout the city. Levi Ward has been gathering donations for Becky’s Toy Drive, a drive he started in honor of his late Aunt, Becky Lamb Carpenter. Becky was a woman said to have a great heart. At one point, she was the lead in charge of her church’s food pantry. Sadly, in 2022 Becky passed away and in her memory, Levi decided that starting a toy drive would be the best way to honor her. The initiative aims to spread joy to children in need, reflecting his aunt's lifelong passion for giving back to the community. Inspired by her kindness, the toy drive encourages donations of new or gently used toys, which will be distributed to Levi’s charity of choice, the Middletown Pregnancy Center. Last year Levi, with the help of others, were able to fill a whole truck load of toys that not only filled the trunk, but also the entire back seat! This gesture not only serves to celebrate his aunt's legacy but also strengthens the sense of community in Franklin, where businesses and residents have rallied behind the cause, making it a success. The toy drive exemplifies the power of local action and how one person's dedication can inspire a collective effort to make a meaningful difference. Levi is not taking anymore donations this year, but you may still find barrels to donate toys at Franklin Pisanello’s, Vinnie & Velvet, and Double Play Records.
